Imagine for a moment that Zdeno Chara is standing in front of you. You are the only thing between him and a net. He's winding up for a slapshot.
Scary enough, right? Then realize that that puck could reach a top speed of 105.4 miles per hour.
If you're like us, the first thought to come to mind is pretty simple. OW. Owowowowow.
If you're the NHL, however, you give Chara $24,000 to put toward Right to Play, the organization with which he works, and whose beanie he was rocking during Saturday night's NHL All-Star Skills Competition in Montreal. Chara was one of many several Bruins making Boston proud during the skills competition, although his contribution was the single most terrifying.
Blake Wheeler notched a hat trick as the Rookies beat the Sophomores, and the young Bruin earned MVP honors for his performance. Marc Savard came in second place during the elimination shootout and finished 3 for 7 in the accuracy competition; and Tim Thomas showed off his stuff in net during the competition (and stopped Alex Ovechkin!).
All-Star competition continues tonight with the big game at Bell Centre; the Celts, who had an off night Saturday, will be back in action at 1 p.m. today when they face the Mavericks.
Finally, on the Sox front, TekWatch continues, but we may have reached a breaking point. As Tony Mazz puts it, the deal that the Sox reportedly offered the captain catcher "could end a winter-long stalemate. One way or the other."
