Sports Redux: The Road Can Be Kind, Too

Maybe being at home got stagnant. After losing to two Western powers at the Garden, the Celtics hit the road and got themselves a win, beating the Hornets 89-77 in New Orleans. Paul Pierce led the show with 30 points, while KG chipped in 10 rebounds and Rondo added 11 assists. The only bad spot was for Ray Allen, who had to come out in the first half with a thumb injury and only got one point. He says he's going to try to play tonight in Dallas.

The nation sighed and groaned yesterday as Brett Favre ushered in the end of the "Will he retire?" era and began the "Really?" era. Brett says he's done for good, which has defensive backs around the league realizing they'll have to work a little harder next year.

In other news you don't want to hear any more about, Bud Selig says he's thinking of suspending A-Rod for admitting he tested positive for steroids. The message here is simple for the Mystery 103 Other Guys on that old list; either deny everything or lose your command of English, or Bud might use you as a cover for his own ineffectiveness.

Speaking of steroids, Dan Shaughnessy says that the fact that half the league was juiced means it's going to be really hard for him to vote for Hall of Famers for the next few years. Of course, Dan could withdraw from voting, but there would go three or four paint-by-number columns every year.
