Imagine it: you're on a road trip that's already done some damage to your lineup. You've been hopping from city to city, and you're going to get farther away from home before you have a chance to get back.
And then, in Colorado, it feels like you're home. The fans are chanting, your teammates are wondering if they accidentally slept through a couple of games and a flight back to Logan, and the actual home team is clearly looking dejected.
Celtics fans of Denver, we in Boston salute you for the way you saluted the guys in green. You earned the Sixth Man Award for the 114-76 routing the C's unleashed on Monday night.
The big question until KG gets back to the lineup is about who is going to step up to deliver. On Monday, the answer was everyone. Ray Allen led with 26 points (18 of which came from 3-point land), Paul Pierce chipped in 22, and seemingly everyone was not only delivering from deep, but also keeping those Nuggets scoring opportunities down. This means that the Celts are now 5-0 when Garnett's out of the lineup. Rest up, KG. The guys are holding down that fort for you and should tack on another win tonight against the Clippers.
Moving on to another team used to a strong fanbase, the Red Sox are continuing to train. But reporters left with nothing to do are starting to ask the question: are the Sox boring or, more surprising, are we bored with them? We hope that Tony Mazz turned around three times and spit after he wrote that piece. If not, we're blaming him for anything that happens to Jacoby Ellsbury in the next seven weeks.
Garry Callahan is looking at it differently over at the Herald: life is better for Boston without Manny Ramirez.
