Sports Redux: Bruins Bag Their Limit

duckhunt.JPG Right after Christmas, you may remember, the Celtics struggled for a couple weeks, got their feet under them, then went on a blowout binge. Is that happening to the Bruins now? Sure looks like it.

After dismantling Florida on Tuesday, the B's utterly dominated and clobbered the No Longer Mighty Ducks, 6-0, at the Garden last night. Michael Ryder and Chuck Kobasew notched two goals apiece in the second period, when the B's turned a 1-0 lead into a 5-0 paté party. Just for the record, don't invite Claude Julien to your paté party; he said Ryder "[put] some jam and grit into it,", which we assume meant the game, but we're not sure. Matt Hunwick and the suddenly red-hot Byron Bitz scored the other Bruin goals, while Tim Thomas kept the Ducks' offense in a (oh God, we're sorry) fowl mood all night long. The Capitals come in this weekend for a good test of the B's' new winning streak.

Stephon Marbury may be in uniform tonight when the C's play Indiana. He may not. We don't even know if it's official yet. The Globe did a phone interview with Starbury, who says mostly the right things but says that anyone who's thinks he's an immature jerk who's killed every team he's been on doesn't know the real Stephon Marbury. Um. OK. And if that's not troubling enough, Bill Simmons writes a long and deeply depressing column about the short-term future of the NBA. Also slipped in there: a tidbit that he talked to a Guy in the Know who said it's possible 15 teams could go out of business in the NHL. 15. Half the league. Is it too early to start drinking?

Frankly, after that kick in the head, we're not even ready yet to talk about the news that Gisele finally made an honest man out of Tom Brady. But feel free to in comments.

I'm glad the dog isn't wearing the new alternate jersey.
