Tuesday Happenings

milky-way.jpg Karaoke

The Milky Way closes at the end of this month, so its regular event schedule has started to sound very gloomy. Tonight is the last live band karaoke at the current Milky Way location. Featuring the Nickel and Dime Band, it's your chance to emerge from your Rock Band fantasy world and perform in front of real instruments. Milky Way Lounge, 403 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, 9 p.m. $3.

Movies

Serbis (2008) is Filipino director Brillante Mendoza's tale of a family-owned soft-core porn theater. While Mendoza explores the frustrations and personal demons of the family that owns the theater, he also turns an eye to commerce between the theater's patrons and its "Serbis," or service boys. Be prepared for "two mind-bending chase scenes through the maze-like guts of the cinema." Through Wednesday. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge. Tickets and showtimes.

Beethoven

The Borromeo String Quartet performs string quartets from Beethoven's late period, when things got weird. Performances include Op. 132 (String Quartet No. 15 in A Minor), Op. 131 (String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp Minor), and Op. 130 (String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat Major), with the Grosse Fugue, Op. 133. Jordan Hall, New England Conservatory, 33 Gainsborough St., 7 p.m. Free.
