Saturday March 7, 2:00 to 9:00 (doors close at 7:30)
Tickets $20
It’s that time again: shamrocks everywhere, those stupid “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” pins worn by the unworthy, giant leprechaun hats, fake Irish brogues, green everything even beer, and pinches on the arse of anyone caught with no green gear (you get what you deserve). That’s right, it’s getting close to St. Patty’s Day and that means close to Harpoon’s giant St. Patrick's Festival.
St. Patrick’s Day comes a little early at the Harpoon Brewery this year: the festival kicks off at 5:30 Friday the 6th. For $20 you get admission, one drink ticket, and a complimentary Harpoon Celtic Ale pint glass. Though the beer served may not be green, it’s the next best thing: Harpoon IPA and UFO, Winter Warmer, Munich Dark, and the Celtic ale, among others. There will also be food on sale, most notably the Irish staples of corned beef and cabbage.
And then there’s the bands. The schedule is packed and the bands range the full spectrum of Irish music. There’s Colum Cille Pipes & Drums for the bagpipe lovers. There’s The Gobshites fulfilling the obvious need for Irish pub songs. And there’s even Boston’s best U2 cover band in Joshua Tree.
So be sure to show up this weekend at the Harpoon Brewery. Bring your Friend of Harpoon card on Friday for a special admission price. Come early, stay late, and wear something green. Check out their website for directions and more information.
