Sports Redux: Okay, Then

bruinslogoKG.JPG We can't put Saturday's Bruins game into context any better than the Globe's succinct take: "It was a complete team effort, just when the slumping Bruins needed everyone to pull together."

And how, Bruins. Well done, Bruins. Just as people were starting to wonder if the remaining portion of the Bs schedule would consist of what we've grown used to over the past few years (that missing spark that's been absent for the past handful of games), the Black and Gold pulled all the pieces together and delivered on the Blackhawks during a rousing 5-3 game at the Garden.

Hello, Mark Recchi (two goals). Great to meet you. Way to prove your worth, P.J. Axelsson. And welcome back, Aaron Ward. We know you're healthy at the moment, but this is the first time we've seen you step up for a little bit. Tim Thomas is especially appreciative of the way you saved his Matrix-inspired goaltending butt in the third with a key save.

A step further through the alphabet, the C's learned Saturday that Glen Davis is not going to be suspended for that foul against Anderson Varejao on Friday night. Whew.

Finally, on the Sox front, expect that friendly rivalry between Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia to continue. During Saturday's showdown between teams USA and Canada on Saturday, Youk delivered a solo homer while Pedroia hit a big double as USA defeated their neighbors to the north, 6-5. Please note that we're focusing on that, not that we saw a TV report yesterday morning that reported that Ortiz is experiencing shoulder tightness.
