Taste of the South End: Drink It In

rum-cupcakes-tower.JPG Judging from the Finance Foodie's report, the South End tastes a lot like booze. High-end booze, at least. From rum-laced cupcakes to ice block martinis to winter cosmos to banana bread pudding with rum sauce, the Taste of the South End seems to have been a veritable bacchanal. With proceeds from the event going to the AIDS Action Committee, at least there was a good excuse for having a good time. In addition to the alcoholic treats, the Finance Foodie enjoyed seafood risotto, oysters shucked by Mayor Menino, and other South End goodies.

As Peter Singer (who'll be at the Brattle on Friday) says, "If it is in your power to prevent something bad from happening, without sacrificing anything nearly as important, it is wrong not to do so." Kudos to those who attended the event or donated even without the benefit of booze.
