The crews setting up for tonight's U2 performance at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square arrived early Tuesday morning and probably won't be loading out until late tonight. If you are one of those wondering how the arrival of U2 in Davis is going to affect things - and whether you're going to be able to get into this no longer even remotely secret show - here's the information you're going to need.
What's the deal? U2 is expected to cap a three-night, three-city tour of sorts with an intimate show at the Somerville Theatre. Think four songs and a Q&A, as that seems to be the general thought.
Road closures: Dover and Meacham Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 9 a.m., with additional closures later in the day. Pedestrian traffic will supposedly remain open, but we don't recommend you try to walk on Meacham directly behind the Somerville Theatre.
Public transporation: If you're going to this show, TAKE THE T. Seriously. No kidding. There will be extra MBTA service. Take advantage of it. You will not find easy parking. Think about trying to park in the Kenmore area during a Red Sox game. Get the idea?
Will I get in? Not if you haven't won a ticket on the radio.
Stay classy, metro Boston: It's going to be a wild evening, no doubt. Please remember, whether you're going to the show or trying to catch that glimpse of the Edge, to be considerate of your fellow neighbors. Show these lads from Ireland just what it was that made them fall in love with the Boston area back in the day.
