U2 is in Davis Square. God Save Us All.

U2 is now in the Somerville Theatre, having received a warm welcome from Somerville residents and gawkers gathered to watch the Irish band arrive.

A black SUV, led by a police escort, pulled onto a barricaded area of Meacham Road directly behind the Somerville Theatre around 4:20 p.m., at which point approximately 200 people on Meacham burst into cheers and began to clamor for a clear photograph or view of the rockers. Bono, surprising no one, was the first band member visible, and the Sunglassed One made a point of singing autographs for those gathered to herald the band's arrival.

Lest one think that only the fans were getting into the photography, however, we were amused and touched to catch a shot of The Edge using his phone to snap an image of what was going on.

Traffic update from Davis Square: not bad yet. But those of you hoping to seek out a glimpse of the guys, we offer this photographic proof: it is easier to find Waldo in this crowd than Bono.

-- Update (7:15 p.m.): Crowd continues to hang out behind the Somerville. The size of that crowd has grown, but nothing particularly crazy outside.
