Bostonist Attends Web Innovators Group 03/10/2009 from Tom Lewis on Vimeo.
Bostonist attended this Tuesday's meeting of the Boston Web Innovators Group at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. We were part of a crowd rumored to be close to 1,000 people - definitely the most attended meeting since we started covering these a year ago. We were a little concerned to hear that the next one won't be until the summertime - is this because of the high attendance, the economy, or both?
As you can see in the video, we talked to and received demos from:
Wiggio - A free online toolkit that makes it easy to work in groups
JitterGram - Send just-in-time text promotions to your customers' phones instantly. Drive demand, on-demand.
JotNot - converts pictures into documents.
BravoCart - A user-friendly, content managed seamlessly integrated e-commerce solution for your website
mCaddie - Social networking and software for golfers
lil'grams - The simplest, most convenient way to share your baby's memories.
We did not have a chance to get a demo from or speak with:
Adtroit Interactive - Winner, People's Choice. With Adroit, you can modify, deploy, test and optimize online advertising in real time, across your entire campaign.
CoachesTown - Provides teams, scout troops, clubs and other organizations with FREE team websites and online communication and management tools .
PickupZone - Use a PickupZone local pick-up point to get your packages when and where you want.
There was definitely a bit more emphasis on business-oriented products and services compared to previous events dominated almost exclusively by direct-to-consumer widgets and platforms, with Adtroit Interactive's ad campaign management platform a clear winner in the people's choice vote.
Of the demos we received, we particularly enjoyed JotNot and lil'grams. It was a great event and it seems a shame that the next one is so far off. If you know of similar events happening in Boston between now and June, please let us know.
