Friday was all about the player comeback and, in Boston's case, players' happy reunions with the teams that have missed them.
Rajon Rondo has been out of the Celtics lineup since March 6, but the luck of the Irish (or, at least, the St. Patrick's Day Celtics uniforms) bumped up his anticipated return by a day. With Rondo in the lineup and Leon Powe on fire (30 points, 11 rebounds, 5 blocks), the Green worked their way to a 102-92 victory over the Grizzlies.
On the baseball side, Mike Lowell made a return to form during the spring training equivalent of a Red Sox-Yankees showdown (which means it didn't feel like a showdown at all). Sure, Lowell's been training with the team, but it was seeing the third baseman turning a doubleplay and hitting a homer Friday (as part of the Sox 8-4 victory) that made it feel like Lowell is officially almost back.
In related Sox news, Julio Lugo is worried about his knee.
The Bruins face the Islanders today at 1, which means that they must keep their heads focused and get ready for the final stretch of the season.
