Sunday Happenings

milky-way.jpg Parades

The Milky Way is closing its shop on Centre Street—its space is soon to become a vacant blight on the otherwise pleasant Hyde Square—and literally marching down the street to a new location in the Brewery complex. It's a New Orleans style funeral parade, and you are invited to bring your own ruckus. Milky Way Lounge, 403 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, 1 p.m. Free.

Movies

The MFA concludes its Werner Herzog retrospective with Fitzcarraldo (1982), the story of an obsessive opera fan who dreams of building an opera house in the Peruvian jungle. The making of the film nicely mirrored the narrative, as Herzog, like his hero, actually brought a ship over land from river system to river system in order to preserve the film's authenticity. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 1 p.m. $10/$8.

Rock

Tristan da Cunha is a Cambridge band that makes disjointed, angular rock that would do the Minutemen proud. Performing with Thief Thief, the Weird Beards, and Graph. P.A.'s Lounge, 345 Somerville Ave., 8:30 p.m. $7.
