Fang Friends: Titian, Venus and Adonis, c. 1560

Venus and Adonis by Titian.JPG

People often do dumb things because of their egos. In the Fang Friendsified version of Venus and Adonis by Titian, we see the immortal Venus pleading with the young Adonis to play hookie on the war, and make out. And Adonis is all, "I'm going to prove my manhood
and fight even though dead men don't get laid." And then our young hero loses his grip on the mortal coil because he didn't heed the advice of his older lover, and the pair never get it on again.

Egos occasionally result in nifty stuff, though. Like, badass Renaissance art, for instance.

Anyhow, there is a rather fabulous exhibit on at the Museum of Fine Art that chronicles the rivalry between three Renaissance masters, Titian, Tintoretto, and Veronese. See it, and some naked people, through August 16.
