BostonTV: Bad Girl's Whitney Does Proust, Among Other Things

Lynnfield native and Boston ambassador Whitney “Boston” Collings from Bad Girls Club agreed to answer some of our most pressing questions.

Bostonist: You were kicked off the show for fighting with another girl. Was it misedited or blown out of proportion? Did you think that was unfair of the producers?

Whitney Boston: I was kicked off the show for fighting another girl. The camera angles can only capture so much of the fight. What I will say is that the particular person I fought with was because she was attacking one of my friends. Beyond that, I had sat the girl Amber M. down on countless times (by myself so she wouldn't feel singled out) and I told her about how she instigates and gets under the skin of people. She just didn't listen and unfortunately it snowballed into a street brawl. I saw many things that have happened on that show, I can't make the call that the producers did but what I will tell you is that they did not by any means want to send me home, it was hard for them to make that decision. Someone ratted me out on the show and to be honest with you, I don't think it would have been me to be sent home if that person didn't say my name.

Her thoughts on reality TV, the “City of Champions” and her most admired military event, after the jump.

Bostonist: How did you hear about Bad Girls Club and why did you decide to go on the show?
W: I heard about the Bad Girls Club from the Bunim-Murray site. I just happened to be looking on it one day and saw that they were holding auditions for the show in Boston (along with 50 other cities). At that point I had never heard of the show, so I looked it up on You Tube and saw some clips from the previous season. It looked very intense. Along with that I sent Bunim-Murray an email and they contacted me almost immediately, and the interviewing rounds began!

B: When you got to LA, what were your first impressions of the other girls?
W: I didn't want to judge a book by it's [sic—hell, all of these responses are [sic]’d] cover so I tried to keep my mind open to all of the girls. Clearly after 24 hours of being there, we all knew how every personality differed and realized why we were the seven girls that were chosen.

B: What's the difference between Lynnfield and LA?
W: Lynnfield is much different than LA. LA is a huge city with all walks of life and so many different things to do. The culture and food is definitely different. LA is a great place to stay for a short period of time, and I think that everyone should experience it once. I just found myself becoming more materialistic out there. I believe that most people from Boston or any surrounding suburb likes to throw on a Boston Red Sox cap and go to a game, school or even out.

B: Did you show up to party, to make friends, or to start something with the other girls?
W: I didn't show up with any plan. I just knew that it was going to be a lot of going out and having fun. I didn't believe that I was going to make friends with people but I fortunately came out with four great friends from the show, who I talk to on a daily basis. Im also friendly with all the other girls (except for one), so it really was a great experience!

B: Any particular reason to walk around LA in a bikini?
W: If it was my choice, I wouldn't have walked around LA in a bikini by any means. It was for a promotion for a store out there that sells bikinis and nightwear. The whole purpose of it was to see how much you could sell to the customers in a couple hours on Hollywood Boulevard. I didn't do too bad!

B: You're obviously very proud of being from Boston. Do people recognize you here? Do you have fans?
W: Yes I am very proud to be from the city of champions! People do recognize me here quite a bit. It's great because my fans are all so wonderful and very nice. They are great!

B: You say, "Boston, bitch!" Are you a Boston Bitch?
W: Hahaha, well I don't know if they caught that quote after I had a couple drinks, but what I will say is I am a student for finance and biology with a minor in physics. I also work in Finance, so I guess you could say I'm from Boston and I'm not nice when you get on my bad side? Next.......

B: How did your boxing background prepare you for reality TV?
W: My uncle was a famous boxer and lots of people in my family have boxed. I took lessons when I was in high school down in Charlestown. To be honest, boxing had nothing to do with reality tv, it was just something that was in my background.

B: As an ambassador for Boston, what's your favorite pizza place in the city?
W: My favorite place is Pizzeria Regina in the North End. They have the best pizza that could come out of the city. Plus their staff is great!

B: You're pretty controversial online-- a lot of people think you'd make a great contestant on the next Charm School. Would you do that show?
W: I would do another reality tv show most definitely. It is a great experience but as far as charm school, I would have to think about that a little harder!

B: As I'm sure you know, James Lipton from Inside the Actor's Studio does a Proust Questionnaire with each of his guests. Let's do a couple:

What's your favorite virtue?

W: Being true to yourself and others.

B: Your favorite qualities in a man?
W: I love a man who strives to be successful every day in his life. If he has already obtained his success, then someone who works hard and looks to see that there is no end to the tunnel and that the sky is the limit.

B: Your favorite qualities in a woman?
W: For all of my close girlfriends, they are all fun and successful. I think that's what makes all of us get along together.

B: Your main fault:
W: I believe that my main fault is probably that I get ticked off too easy when people are doing the wrong thing. I think I need to think before I try to criticize or before I take my own actions.

B: Your idea of happiness:
W: My idea of happiness is to make sure that you are happy with yourself. That comes with self esteem and in most cases success!

B: Your idea of misery:
W: I wouldn't know. I feel that misery is probably when you have hit rock bottom and you feel that you can't be lifted back up. I don't believe that anyone should go through misery.

B: If not yourself, who would you be?
W: I don't know if I would answer that question. I think I would be myself haha.

B: The military event you admire the most?
W: The war in Iraq because I can read up and keep up on it daily.

B: The natural talent you'd like to be gifted with?
W: Well im already athletic and I play the piano and write music. I guess a natural talent that I would like to work on is singing. I can sing but I don't know to what ability!

B: Your favorite motto?
W: Live every day like it is your last!

Amen. Watch the Bad Girls Club reunion on Oxygen, tonight at 10.
