The HFA's Kiju Yoshida retrospective continues with A Story Written on Water (1965), Yoshida's first independent feature. Starring Mariko Okada, it's an "anti-melodrama" that challenges the focus on the family that was common in the Japanese melodrama form. Yoshida and Okada will be on hand to discuss the film. Mondovino (2004) is a behind-the-scenes look at the soap operatic goings-on in the boardrooms and châteaux of the wine industry's leading players. Presented by Slow Food Boston. Theodore Parker Unitarian Church, 1859 Centre St., West Roxbury, 3:30 p.m. $5.

The Boston Turkish Film Festival continues with Autumn (2008), a film by Özcan Alpar about a political prisoner who has been released after 10 years in jail and must learn to live again. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 3 p.m. $10/$8.
