The_General_poster.jpg Movies

Buster Keaton's silent masterpiece The General (1927) is a train chase movie set during the War of Northern Aggression (Keaton plays a Southerner). A young conductor (Keaton) loses a train and a girlfriend in one fell swoop. The plot involves his slapstick attempts to rescue both from the dastardly Union spies. Keaton, known as the Great Stone Face, appears unaware that anything funny is going on—or that he is acting in a movie. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge, 11 a.m. Free.

Otaku

The Spring Anime Kaiju Experience, not to be confused with Anime Boston, is like Spring Training for cosplayers preparing for the Big Show. Courtyard Marriott, 275 Tremont St., 11 a.m. to midnight. $15.

Hip Hop

Lawrence, Mass.'s finest, Termanology, has been repping Hub hip hop since 2002, and he has parlayed his connections with DJ Premiere into a series of mixtapes and a full length LP. His underground rap hit "This is How We Rock" gave Houston rapper Bun B the opportunity to rhyme about voting for Obama and selling cocaine in a single couplet. Middle East Downstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 8 p.m. $12.

DJ Rob Swift, of the World Famous X-Ecutioners, spins in the Hub tonight. The Good Life, 28 Kingston St., 10 p.m. $5.

People with Guitars

Neko Case makes country music, and people are always talking about her "pipes." We assume they mean her voice. Berklee Performance Center, 136 Mass. Ave., 3 p.m. $30.

The Tallest Man on Earth is a Swedish singer-songwriter who does what Swedish singer-songwriters do best: be quirky. Think Jens Lenkman with a banjo or Peter Bjorn and John except only one person. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge, 9 p.m. $15.
