Tuesday, April 14

The Rockus Collegiate Battle of the Bands hits Paradise. Word on the street is Aerosmith's Joe Perry will be in attendance, but Bostonist has it's eye on The Hollow Sound to take the night's musical spotlight.

Former Azure Ray singer Maria Taylor swings by Great Scott for some light-footed folk.

Black Label Society will never stop making music... ever. The long-standing metal band is celebrating itself with a "Black Label Society Bash" at the House of Blues. Opening up are a few bands you might not have listened to since nu-metal was all the rage.

Wednesday, April 15

WTBU drops it old school at Great Scott with some kids from school. Be prepared for some sick beats and rhymes at the hands of BU and Northeastern students.

It's a perfect night for queercore as San Francisco's Pansy Division hits town. Early in the evening, singer John Ginoli stops by Brookline Booksmith to talk about his new book, Deflowered: My Life In Pansy Division. Later on in the night, head to the Brattle Theater for a screening of Pansy Division: Life In A Gay Rock Band , which will be followed by a Q+A and a special in-theater performance.

Love Ween, but only half of their catalog? Well, see half of the band at Paradise, as the Gene Ween Band hits the stage.

Dubstep producer and record label head Kode9 drops by Boston for his first local performance. Catch one of the scene's greats dig through a deep catalog of 2-step, house, garage, and anything electronic that's worth listening to as he performs under the Bassic banner at Goodlife.

Thursday, April 16

You've heard of the movie, now catch the band! Anvil! The Story of Anvil has been called one of the greatest rock documentaries of all time. So, to celebrate the film's opening, catch Toronto's Anvil in all their hair-metal glory at the Palladium as part of the Pre-Metal Fest Party.

WBCN's Rock n' Roll Rumble continues with the first round of semifinals at the Middle East Downstairs, pitting local bands in a competition to become the champion of Boston... or something like that. Meanwhile, the Middle East Upstairs plays host to Japanese acid-rock heads Acid Mothers Temple for a trippy-good time.

Movers & Shakers continue their April residency at the Plough & Stars with their third night of Springsteen-esq country-punk. Drug Rug's Tommy Allen opens.

Speaking of Springsteen, if you're a fan of the man, then you might as well already have a ticket to Lucero at Paradise. The Memphis quartet is known as a band's band, has the Hold Steady in their corner, are a little bit country and a whole lot of emotive punk. Jersey noiseniks Titus Andronicus open.

Friday, April 17

The cabaret-punk act World/Inferno Friendship Society may call Brooklyn home, but their revolving cast includes members of local acts such as The Dresden Dolls and Ketman. Catch the venerable rock circus as it hits Paradise.

A couple of administration changeovers since this band first got big, and The Presidents of the United States of America still rock. Catch the band as they stop by the House of Blues. Irish electronic-pop duo Oppenheimer open.

WBCN's Rock n' Roll Rumble continues with round number two of semifinals at the Middle East Downstairs. Upstairs, noiseniks Big Bear and indie pop trio Pants Yell! co-headline a locals-only show that will deliver from all corners of Boston-based rock music.

Saturday, April 18

Toronto quintet Great Lake Swimmers drop by the Brattle Theater for a set of soothing folk.
