New Music

The NEC Contemporary Ensemble tackles the work of NEC faculty members John Greer, Michael Gandolfi, and Kati Agócs. The compositions range from opera to solo flute, and Stravinksy's Fanfare for Two Trumpets will be thrown in for good measure. Jordan Hall, New England Conservatory, 30 Gainsborough St., 8 p.m. Free.

UK Funky

UK funky house is the next evolutionary step in British dance music, reinserting a disco groove into the chaotic beats of UK garage and dubstep. DJ Vice gives a crash course in the music tonight. Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. No cover.
