Sports Redux: It's All Happening

bostonskyline.jpg Today will require coordination. Planning. Drive and passion. But, if you've set things up properly, you will be fully prepared to enjoy all that Boston sports have to offer today. You'll need two TVs or at least some really great picture-in-picture, but it can happen. It can be done.

Your day of Boston sportsplosion begins at the TD Whatever We're Calling It This Week Garden at 12:30 p.m., when the Celtics will begin their endeavor to show that they can make a run for it in the playoffs without KG. We're willing to give the Celts more credit than most people, so we're hoping that they make a bold statement against the Bulls early on.

After the Celts win, it's going to get creative. The Bruins are picking things up where they left off on Thursday night, facing the Canadians at the Garden for Game 2 of their playoff matchup. Given the way things wrapped up at the end of the buzzer on Thursday night (or, rather, unraveled), we're expecting the Canadians to be less able to contain their emotions during play, which begins at 8 p.m.

We were ready to say that you wouldn't have to worry about the fact that the Red Sox-Orioles game was starting at Fenway 50 minutes before face-off tonight. We were thinking this while Brad Penny demonstrated that Fenways just might not be his kind of ballpark, but then the Sox came back, thanks to homers from the new Bash Brothers - JD Drew and Jason Bay - and the never give up attitude that helped them bag Game 5 of the ALCS last year. The Sox came back from being down by seven runs in the second inning to win, 10-8, which means that Boston and Baltimore will feature a pitching duel today. Josh Beckett, bring it. And if you're on Jed Lowrie Watch, kick things into hyperdrive.

So, if you're going to be settling in in front of the television today, here's your plan: start with Comcast SportsNet for Celtics at 12:30 p.m., then catch a breather or take a walk until 7:10 p.m., at which point you're going to switch to NESN Plus, show the Sox some support and then switch on over to regular NESN for the Bruins. Sleep? Who needs sleep? You can sleep in the offseason. This is playoff time.
