Are you running today? Are you setting a personal goal for yourself? (Bostonist's goal, to eat 26.2 donuts today, is well underway.) If you're not, thousands are, and perhaps one of them will beat three-time defending champ Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot. It probably won't be the guy with the beer hat and the cape; he'll probably finish around 5 this afternoon. If at all.
Also today is the annual weird Red Sox morning game. The Sox are looking to sweep the Orioles after beating them 2-1 yesterday. Jon Lester, who lost his first two starts despite the fact that he "didn't think there was anything wrong for me to fret on", pitched a gem, striking out nine Birds and scattering four hits in seven innings. Mike Lowell and Dustin Pedroia had an RBI single apiece to account for the scoring. Lester has also been moved up a day to account for Josh Beckett's suspension; he'll pitch the series opener Friday at Fenway against the Yankees.
Misery loves company, and the Celtics can take some comfort (not really) in the fact that the higher-seeded Magic, Blazers and Spurs are also in 1-0 holes in their first-round series. If you haven't had a chance to watch the game-winning shot by Philly's Andre Iguodala to shock Orlando, check it out. It's maybe one of the Top Ten greatest shots of all time, and if LeBron James had shot it, it would have been on ESPN 14,500 times already and we'd be sick of it. For unexpected holes, however, it's tough to beat President's Trophy winner San Jose, who lost both home games to the Ducks and trail their series 2-0. If they get knocked out, the Bruins have home-ice advantage over everybody, if you're inclined to look starry-eyed into one of many possible futures. Not that we are or anything.

if san jose gets eliminated, all of my stanley cup predictions will need heavy revision. here's hoping.
It's a mistake to pick a team that has to rely on Joe Thornton in the playoffs. :-)
I saw Iguodala's shot. Okay, he made it, but it looked like a bad shot. And, he didn't look very happy.
