Interactive Art
The 2009 Boston Cyberarts Festival kicks off with an ambitious, interactive, multimedia piece that recreates the Berlin Wall in three dimensions. Virtuelle Mauer / ReConstructing the Wall, by Tamiko Thiel and Teresa Reuter, gives you the opportunity to move back and forth from East to West Berlin and to experience virtual representations of everyday life on either side of the Wall. Goethe Institute, Boston, 170 Beacon St., 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., through May 6. Free. information.
Spellcasters
New Orleans-based one man band Mr. Quintron is a busy man. Between running the Spellcaster Lodge in the Ninth Ward, inventing automatic drum machines, and wreaking havoc, he still must find time to tour. We've never seen a Quintron show that did not involve two or more of the following elements: stripping, knifeplay, dancing, and spitting. His partner Ms. Pussycat puts on demented puppet shows. Performing with Psychedelic Horseshit and Big Digits. Middle East Upstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. $12.
Punk Rock
The Bronx (a band, from Los Angeles) represent the grunge revival that we were all certain was inevitable. Sounding like it just escaped from the grooves of an Amphetamine Reptile seven inch, The Bronx also manages to incorporate Southern California's long tradition of hair metal. Middle East Downstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 8 p.m. $13.
