Bostonist's day would not be complete without WMBR, MIT's superlative radio station, so we are geeked about its MIT Spring Weekend Festival Concert. Eight bands, with WMBR DJs spinning between sets. It's a sunny day, and the show is outdoors. What is stopping you? Steps of Kresge Auditorium, MIT, 48 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, noon to 7 p.m. Free. More information.

Spiral Jetty, in Utah's Great Salt Lake, is probably the best known example of earthwork artist Robert Smithson's oeuvre. Unlike many of Smithson's other earthworks, it still exists, sometimes, and can be visited by the art loving public. James Benning's casting a glance (2007) looks at the shifting ecology of the Great Salt Lake and its effects on the work. Screening with Smithson's original Spiral Jetty film. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., 7 p.m. $10.
Escape From Mom's Basement
Virtual art in Second Life has flourished recently, attracting the attention of otherwise legitimate artists and critics. A group called Brooklyn is Watching (sure it is) presents a panel on the phenomenon as well as a spin-off project called Boston is Watching (doubtful, unless it is Second Life art made by the Red Sox or the Craigslist killer). Part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival. Boston Public Library, Copley Square, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free.

Democratic Primary Debate at WGBH: Transcript Time!

Interestingly this was written up recently by the New York Times Magazine that of course nobody reads either-especially in Mom's basement.
i guess that whatever the NYTimes Magazine wrote about the show, it wasn't positive enough to keep you from getting defensive about silly jibes on lowly blogs.
who are you calling lowly?
