Interview with Louie the "Siren" Tricyclist

Louie from Brian Moore on Vimeo.

You know Louie. Well, no, you probably don't know Louie—you've just seen Louie. He rides around town on his cargo-enabled tricycle, yelping what some call a siren sound. Those who know Louie a little bit know he's saying "move" so folks get out of his way.

Emerson student Brian Moore talked to a few folks, including Louie himself, about his unusual and unceasing biking. People say some interesting stuff, like "I always thought of you as echolocation man"; others rhapsodize about having seen him all over for years. Workers at Back Bay Bicycles, where Louie gets his bike fixed, agree that "he's almost like the purest form of riding a bike."

As with everything, there is a Facebook group for Louie, if you want to join.

always just called him "Newbury St. Tricycle Man" back when I lived in the city. Seemed like that was where I saw him most. Cool that somebody took the time to get his story.
Friends in NYC to whom I've told his story hardly believe it. Now they'll understand, though! :)
