Drinking Liberally

Our old friends at Drinking Liberally have invited Boston City Councilor and mayoral candidate Sam Yoon to join them for a pint. Globe Bar, 565 Boylston St., 7 p.m. Free.

Escape From Mom's Basement

Episodes of Star Trek on the big screen and hordes of Boston's Trek fandom will turn the Brattle into Nerdtown tonight. Catch episodes of the original series so that you have a solid baseline when you go to see J.J. Abrams's Emo Trek movie. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge, 6, 8, and 10 p.m. $5 suggested donation/$10 for all three screenings.

Jazz

We talked up NEC professor and jazz drummer Bob Moses yesterday, and if you are the type of person who never crosses the Charles, you'll have an opportunity to catch him tonight. Performing with Heart Breath and Little Mystery. Johnny D's Uptown, 17 Holland St., Somerville, 9 p.m. $10.
