-- A 17-year-old boy was shot to death in broad daylight outside a home at 70 Tonawanda St. in Dorchester. A neighbor said that the shooter fled in a silver SUV, but no arrests have been made and no motives have been advanced in the killing. [BPDNews, Herald]
-- In a headline with a classic disregard for subtlety or tact, the Herald announced "Revere braces for wave of beach violence" following last Tuesday's massive, coordinated skip day. Accompanied by photos of black teens, but no evidence of violent crime, the Herald's article quoted Revere Councilor Charles J. Patch saying "Now that they've gotten a taste of Revere Beach, I'm afraid they're going to come often." The reader is left to speculate whom Patch meant by "they." The MBTA has rebuffed Revere's hysterical pleas to install metal detectors at the Revere Beach T station. [Herald]
-- Four men allegedly punched and kicked their way into a South End home early Sunday morning and made off with $25 for their trouble. Cops eventually caught up to four suspects, according to police reports, and arrested the lot of them. [BPDNews]

-- Three instructors from Somerville's Brazilian Martial Arts Center were arraigned yesterday in Chelsea District Court after allegedly using their martial arts for something other than self-defense—and leaving a man in a coma, for good measure. [UHub]

Got to defend my little corner of the world here. The pictures put on the web site showed lots of people. I did not note the color of the kid who tipped over the trash cans on the beach. Or the ones in the group walking down my street trying car door handles. Lots of people walking in the street, and wandering on private property.
Businesses in the area had to deal with shoplifters, underage kids tried to purchase beer. It is something we deal with every sunny day. It's the price we pay living on this beautiful beach. Had the students stayed on the beach, it would not have been a problem.
Revere is a mix race, blue collar hard working kind of a town. I am tired of hearing people who were not there try to make this out to be some kind of racist event.
The other thing I did not check, the number or race of my neighbors and I when we went down to the beach later to clean up the mess the kids left when they went home.
