Wednesday Happenings

Movies

Sharing a film festival is not a sufficient condition for liking the same movies, which is why LGBT film festivals typically segregate by sex. Tonight, Boston's 20th annual LGBT Film Festival begins with the Women's Opening Night selection I Can't Think Straight (2008), a lesbian romantic comedy. Men have to wait until tomorrow. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 7 p.m. $15/$12.

Minutemen

The Minutemen used to start their shows in the early evening so that working people could attend them. We assume that that didn't go so well since Mike Watt, the band's legendary former bassist, has reverted to type and will perform at quarter to eleven tonight with his backing act the Missing Men. As aging nine-to-fivers, we're bummed. With Ketman and AM Stereo. TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St., Cambridge, 9 p.m. $13.

Hip Hop

Break Science is the outfit of Berklee "beat bender" Adam Deitch, who has a kitchen sink approach to getting booties on the dancefloor. Deitch claims to offer an approximation of a "live mix tape" that includes snatches of dub, drum and bass, and hip hop. Performing with Lyrics Born. Middle East Upstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., 8 p.m. $12.
