Bostonist Was There: Jon LaJoie at The Wilbur Theatre

Jon LaJoie performing at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston - 04/30/2009 from Tom Lewis on Vimeo.

Sure, we had watched all of his online videos, and yes, we went to Hollywood to walk around and interview him, but we really didn't know what to expect from Jon LaJoie's live show at the Wilbur Theatre last Thursday.

Before he went onstage a hilarious video was played of LaJoie attempting to describe what his live show would be like. He opened the show in his "Everyday Normal Guy" MC persona and after a quick costume change was back as himself where he was very modest about his stand-up skills, which were excellent and better than a lot of what is presented to us as stand-up on TV. LaJoie sang many of the songs from his YouTube videos peppered with references to Boston, and played some of his videos as he prepared for segments with costume changes.

The show was finished with his online hit, "Show Me Your Genitals", which several people in the audience knew word for word. After the show, it appeared that most of the 500+ crowd waited in line to shake hands and have a picture taken - he's a genuine cult hit, for them moment, we advise you to see him now before you have to buy a ticket to see him in a stadium, which will happen before long.

Find out when Jon LaJoie is up to at his website and tell him to come back to Boston ASAP!

Be sure to check out the Wilbur Theatre schedule to see what other great acts they are bringing to Boston.
