No One Puts Big Baby In the Corner

Imagine, if you will, the plight of Orlando Magic fan and new Glen "Big Baby" Davis antagonist Ernest Provetti and his 12-year-old son, Nicholas. The pair took in Sunday night's Magic-Celtics game from courtside seats. They felt the breeze of sprinting players blow across their faces as the two teams battled it out for four quarters of play. They watched Davis sink the beautiful buzzer beater we've all watched countless times today.

Then young, impressionable Nicholas saw a "raging lunatic coming at" him in the form of the jubilant Big Baby. Davis, Ernest Provetti contends today, violated the sanctity of the game when he crossed a line - the out of bounds line, that is - and came too close to courtside seats. That violation, Provetti says, deserves an apology.

"The NBA makes it clear [that players are not to] cross the sideline," Provetti said in a telephone interview with the Orlando Sentinel. "If I cross that line, the NBA will take away my tickets. It's a double standard."

Oh really? Because when we look at the clip in question, we're thinking that Provetti ought to keep quiet. The way we're seeing it, Provetti is reaching into the plane of the basketball court, pointing and shouting at the ref standing right next to him.

In fact, we'd go so far as to say Provetti is closer to the action than members of the Orlando basketball team.

We are not attempting to deny that the sight of Big Baby running at us would be at least somewhat frightening, something akin to a charging bull. But before Provetti talks about a moment he didn't even see because he was busy turning away and throwing his towel into the air and thus hindering the experience of fans behind him (just sayin), we think he should take a moment, think about how lucky his son is to be able to say he came in contact with a 2008 World Champion basketball player, and simma down.

Besides, if LeBron does it, it must be OK:
