Bostonist slept in today so we could go out and party tonight. We are sorry for the late happenings.
Anime
Anime Boston 2009 opens tonight at the Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Boston Hotel. If you're not already signed up, register at the door for only $50, an animated bargain. Complete schedule, with video rooms, game shows, and more. We don't pretend to understand this phenomenon, but maybe you do. We'll just take pictures.
Jerry Springer the Opera
Well, it's an opera. Based on a TV show. Where people hit each other with chairs. Sure to be fascinating. Boston Center for the Arts (539 Tremont Street), 8pm, $25.
Quoting Things
Repetition is the basis of all humor, so the more you repeat something, the funnier it is. People who have operated under this principle for many years will repeat Monty Python and the Holy Grail word-for-word this evening at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, making the movie even funnier. Delightful. Midnight, $10.
French New Wave Cinema
The Brattle's François Truffaut: Man, Woman & Child retrospective, featuring all the Antoine Doinel films, opens tonight with The 400 Blows. It plays at various times: 5:00, 7:15, 9:45 for $9.50 each. The Brattle is at 45 Brattle Street in Harvard Square.
Music
We already told you to go see Hallelujah the Hills (and a bunch of other fine bands) tonight; if you don't, we'll punch you. Hard. 9 pm, Middle East, $12.
If real music doesn't appeal to you, try DJ music at Good Life (28 Kingston St / Downtown Crossing). Party Ben, dj BC, DJ Lenlow, DJ Spencer 4 Hire, Katie Enlow
at Good Life. 9 pm, $5.
If you are a very big Smiths fan, attend Morrissey's 50th Birthday Dance Party at Great Scott (1222 Comm Ave, Allston). 10 pm, $5.
