The Sox have it again. Somehow, they've got it.
They finished up a road trip that looked dismal a week ago 6-4, thanks to completing a sweep of the Tigers yesterday in Comerica Park. Tim Wakefield fell behind 3-0 in the second? No problem! Just load the bases in the top of the third on two walks and a hit-batsman, have two guys walk in runs (what DID happen to you, Dontrelle Willis?), and let Jason Bay's two-run double give your team an insurmountable lead. Final score: 6-3, despite some scary moments from Papelbon in the ninth.
So the Sox are back to being tied for the best record in the AL, and does anybody feel at all like they've played to their level? David Ortiz is still famously slumping; he got yesterday off, and says he is going to get his eyes checked, hence our choice of today's graphic. Hey, it worked for Ricky Vaughn. Kevin Youkilis has been pulled from two straight games with nagging injuries, so that's cause for some concern. Tony Massarotti says don't worry; the Sox seem to be right where they want to be.
A lot went on in the world of sports yesterday, even besides the Red Sox. LA put the hammer down late in the second quarter and ran away to a 100-75 win in Game One of the NBA Finals. Grrr. Pittsburgh tied the Stanley Cup Finals at two with a 4-2 domination of the Red Wings, while the Onion suggests that neither of these cities can afford a victory parade. And Randy Johnson became the latest "probably the last guy to ever do it", it being win his 300th game. Congratulations to a guy who, when all is said and done, beat the Yankees in the World Series and never helped them win one. All is OK.

Joe Sacco (BU, Medford) is the new coach of the Colorado Avalanche. Congrats! Good luck!
ha, i literally just figured out that this is not your traditional eye chart. YES I'M SLOW.
