Notable Progeny

Femi Kuti, Fela's son, may be a little more chill than his old man, but he continues the Kuti tradition of telling it like it is in the funkiest way possible. (The Nigerian government allowed him to reopen his nightclub/community center, by the way.) Femi's live show is far more engaging than his recorded work. Performing with IYEOKA & the Rock By Funk Tribe. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 7 p.m. $25.

Human Black Holes

When a black hole stops feeding, it becomes the coldest object in space. We learned that at the Museum of Science's awesome new black hole exhibit. What's the temperature of a human black hole after it stops feeding? Find out tonight as the MoS sponsors a hamburger eating contest pitting Bostonians against 4 pounds of cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. Eagle's Deli, 1918 Beacon St., Brighton, 4:45 p.m. $20 meal also includes eventual MoS admission.

Frisbee

Our old friends at Socializing for Justice will be tossing around Frisbees on the Common today. Corner of Beacon and Charles Streets, Boston Common, 5:30 p.m. $2.

Wine

The Second Glass magazine's Crash Course Wine Seminars helped Bostonist to learn how to distrust wine labels. But can the magazine's experts teach you how to read one in order to get the best vino for your buck? Find out tonight as the Second Glass offers a Crash Course on reading wine labels. Downtown Wine & Spirits, 225 Elm St., Somerville, 7 p.m. $10.
