Movies
Filmmaker D.L. Polonsky has the best Web site since 1996. Seriously, go look at it, especially if you like animated GIFs and palindromes, which we, for the record, do. We have no idea what his movies are like, but with titles like Midlife Cowboy (about a cowboy who attacks a computer) and A Disease Called Man, they are probably pretty insane. His showcase screens tonight. Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 7 p.m. $5.
Gentle Music
Camera Obscura, the Scottish band that sounds like a three-way between Neko Case, Stuart Murdoch, and Morrissey, believes in truth in advertising, if the title of its album My Maudlin Career is any indication. If you like this kind of music, you probably already have a ticket to this show, so we're not sure why we're even mentioning it. Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square, Somerville, 7:30 p.m. $19.50.
Eastie
The Neighborhood of Affordable Housing (NOAH), an Eastie booster group, offers an introduction to East Boston and a chance to booze it up and mingle. The program, the Secrets of Eastie, will lay bare "the hidden treasures of East Boston, including restaurants, activities, culture, history, geography, commerce, and more." Hyatt Harborside, 101 Harborside Dr., East Boston, 6 p.m. $25-$100 donation.
