Chowder
It's too bad Boston's Chowderfest happens today—last weekend was perfect chowder weather. Seven restaurants from Boston and beyond compete for the title of Boston's Best Clam Chowder and you get to lap up the leftovers. City Hall Plaza, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. $10/$7.
Movies
Three Monkeys (2008) is a psychological thriller from Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Its cinematography is bleak; its subject, a politician's cover-up and its effect on the family of the plot's fall guy, is depressing. And it might have been one of the best movies released last year. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 3:40 p.m. $10/$8.
Spoken Word
Sometimes the band behind a slam poetry event can make all the difference, and word has it that the Jeff Robinson Trio is a case in point. Featuring a sly, bluesy slink that could come straight from the Charles Mingus songbook, Robinson's crew makes funny stories funnier and tragic ones more tragic. Tonight, they back poet Omekongo Dibinga. Lizard Lounge, 1667 Mass. Ave., 7:30 p.m. $5.
Reggae
Krucial Reggae, a showcase of DJs and musicians, has picked up stakes and moved to a new location: Church, in the Fenway. Tonight, DJ Ceez will man the turntables. Church of Boston, 69 Kilmarnock St., 9 p.m.
