There's a real interesting angle on the HOB license issue. It seems that one of Menino's challengers, Michael Flaherty, was scheduled to have a fundraiser there this week. Now they've had their liquor license yanked.

Coincidence? Maybe. But one of the commenters on the Herald story note that at 3 other bars where Flaherty was scheduled to hold fundraisers, the same thing happened- busted for liquor violations just prior to the fundraiser.

Once, bad luck. Twice, coincidence. Four times????

And especially with the HOB. Anyone who's been there knows how many hoops you have to jump through in order to get a drink there. You're IDd at the door and when you order your drink and staff patrols to make sure only people with bands are drinking.

This is a story worth pursuing.
