Sunday's slow pace followed an action-packed July 4 for this Bostonist. That left free time for some idle thoughts on some pressing, or not depending on your perspective, issues:
Inviting, isn't it? Photo by flickr user bubble dumpster and available for download under a Creative Commons license.
- Yvonne Abraham must have been inspired by Bostonist when she took on firefighters in Sunday's Globe.
- Dan Shaughnessy is correct to assert that "You-Know-Who" is being welcomed back to baseball with seeming indifference to the fact that he was a rulebreaker. The MLK and Mandela references are a bit much, however.
- Ellen Goodman should write a column explaining what is worse than being dependent because Bostonist isn't sure it can be done. Ms. Goodman sounds like someone who is independent or angry at someone who is now-dependent on her. Goodman has a point about the negative connotations of asking for help. Hopefully, she never has to ask for help to know how hard it is to do.
- Crime should be always be discouraged. But, stealing from yacht owners has got to be a crime that creates little outrage.
- TBS did an adequate - barely - job of announcing the All-Star teams. They were in no hurry to post the rosters on the Internets, though. (Someone checked!) Eck's hair looked good, fyi.
- Speaking of barely adequate, after Sarah Palin announced her planned resignation on Friday in Alaska, it appears that John Kerry was clairvoyant and not a bad comedian.
