Brand New
w/Robbers
at the Middle East Downstairs
Anyone who still crams Brand New in with the mall-emo crowd must be stuck in 2003. The band's third album, 2006's The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, is one of the most caustic records this decade and the album won heaps of acclaim and new fans for the voracious take on Modest Mouse-inspired guitarwork, the dirtiest quiet-loud dynamics of grunge, and yes, the heartfelt performance of the greatest emo acts out there. Chances are, if you still consider Brand New nothing more than bland pop-punk, there's no way you'll be able to get within several miles of this show.
