Boston mayoral candidate Sam Yoon has a blog. The first entry in Yoon's "Diary" went up on the lefty Web site Daily Kos yesterday, and it quickly garnered more than 60 comments. Yoon seems to have replied to most of them. The blog illustrates Yoon's talking point that "Boston needs a mayor who not only appreciates the role of technology but also uses it himself."
In the course of the discussion, Yoon name-dropped Tom Vanderbilt's best-seller Traffic (the one about cars, not about drugs), misspelled opponent Kevin McCrea's name, compared Boston's transportation infrastructure to old spaghetti (Because it is dry and brittle? A coded swipe at Italian mayor Tom Menino?), gave his support to Byron Rushing's hate crimes bill, and gave a shout-out to Bostonist's favorite mayor, Mayor Joe.
Daily Kos is a national Web site, and it's another signal that Yoon, whose first round of fundraising happened last September in California, has established his political base in a sphere beyond Boston—which some think is the best way to defeat the entrenched Menino machine.
Shout out to Lit Drop, where we found Yoon's blog.
