Remember Ian Ferris? This Yankees-loving Vermonter earned a brief moment in the spotlight when he found a way to scatter the seed of the Evil Empire onto the fabled green grass of Fenway Park. While visiting Fenway for the May 31 Phish concert, Ferris' feat was an effort to playfully plant - literally - a curse in the heart of Red Sox Nation.
When not proudly rocking his pinstripes or infiltrating Fenway Park, Ferris was the manager of a Hooters restaurant in South Burlington, Vt. Key word? Was. The Hooters in South Burlington closed on Sunday - reason unknown.
We're not seriously making light of the fact that people are now out of work, especially in these economic times. But given the manner in which Ferris said he was good-naturedly fueling the rivalry between New York and Boston, it must be good-naturedly noted that Ferris' attempt at a curse appears to have backfired in a significant way.
Yankees fans, be warned: mess with Fenway, Fenway messes with you.
