BostonTV: Avec Silver Fox

whichchef.jpg What ho, foodies! We here at Bostonist are no slouches when it comes to watching the kitchenly art on television, but news of an upcoming travel/eating series by one of our favorite chefs set our hearts aflutter. Which silver fox will inspire lust and encourage us to put away the Chinese takeout menu? (And no, it's not Hubert Keller, the minx.)

Mais oui, but it is Eric Ripert!

The head chef of New York's Le Bernardin writes on his blog,

Over the last few months I have been traveling quite a bit while taping a television show called Avec Eric, which will air on PBS Television in the fall of this year. During these travels, I visited locations where food and tradition come together to create really special dining experiences.

But where did he visit? His hometown of France? Somewhere with a great seafood tradition? And how will the man's accent play out in a full-length speaking engagement? Perhaps he'll make a quick Tour d'Allston and pay a visit to our, uh, friend, who has a slight crush. In any event, we hope Avec Eric will be a cross between No Reservations and On the Road Again: take 2 parts Bourdain, 1 part gorgeous travel scenery, 3 parts cooking, and minus 4 parts Gwyneth Paltrow.

As Ripert says,

The whole idea behind Avec Eric, whether it is the television show, the website and future books or other projects, is to encourage people to “cook from life”.

We're intrigued by the mention of "future books or other projects", and hope to see Chef Ripert on Top Chef sometime in the near future. A la prochaine!
