TV Parties

The Brattle continues its trip back to 1984 with a showcase of television shows. From Miami Vice to Transformers, with a stop to visit Punky Brewster, its an audio-visual scrapbook of what many of the Brattle's patrons spent their time doing as a kid. Movies

Though it was mostly shot in New York, The Departed (2006) still remains a great Boston movie. Part Hong Kong cop movie remake, part re-imagining of the Whitey Bulger myth, the movie features stand-out performances from Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon. Glitchy Music

Nth Synthesis is a multimedia performer from Lyon, France who makes glitchy electronic music that veers toward the minimalist. He accompanies his sounds with original, surreal video work. Performing at Beat Research tonight. Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. Free.

Wine

The Second Glass magazine hosts another Crash Course Wine Seminar, this time profiling the long history of wine from France's Rhône region with, of course, plenty of samples. The Wine Gallery, 375 Boylston St., Brookline, 7 p.m. $10.
