BostonTV: Alohomora, Rowling's Brain!

The round glasses and light-up wands are tucked away, the capes and polyester scarves folded and hidden from sight. The scars on foreheads are (hopefully) washed off. The latest Harry Potter installment has finally come and midnight showings gone. But thanks to what promises to be an incredible documentary, fans can live the dream a bit longer.

Let us jump together, Muggles:

Tonight, ABC is finally showing JK Rowling: A Year in the Life. Following the Potter author as she completes Deathly Hallows in Edinburgh, the special by James Runcie reveals the woman behind the magic. (Heh, sorry.)

In what is described as the highlight of the special, Rowling draws a family tree, answering long-held questions about the wizarding world and character origins. We'll also see Rowling arriving at film premieres, returning to some of her old haunts and talking candidly about the series.

We’ve heard about this special since it aired two years ago in Britain. In the cold light of morning, painfully detoxing from Half-Blood Prince mania, the documentary offers insight into the creation of the Potter world. We hope Rowling addresses how to pronounce her name (rhymes with “bowling”) and gives the final word on where and when Potter was conceived. (On a train? Written on a napkin?)

JK Rowling: A Year in the Life is on ABC tonight at 8PM: crash on the couch with an Adult-only Butterbeer and let us know what you think.
