The Globe and NECN are reporting on the gruesome case of Darlene Haynes, a 23-year-old woman found murdered in her Worcester apartment on Monday. The sickening part? Haynes was 8 months pregnant when she was killed, and somebody removed the fetus from her body.
Haynes's body was found mutilated and decomposing in a closet. She's the mother of a 1-year-old girl, who is in the custody of Haynes's boyfriend, Roberto C. Rodriguez. Despite an active restraining order keeping Rodriguez form Haynes, he has not been named a suspect in the killing.
If Haynes's fetus is still alive, it requires immediate medical attention, doctors say. Worcester police are actively searching for the fetus.
