That big head in the middle is a Sentinel. It is a robot that kills X-Men. We didn't know about the "Roids" before today. Ahem. (Brad Searles)
Flickr user Brad Searles captures a new X-Men themed graffiti mural in Allston. Dorky, we know. The artist(s) may have tried to avoid charges of copyright infringement by labeling the assortment "Text Men," but we know Nightcrawler when we see him. Because we are nerds.
The mural is located 510 Lincoln Street, just off Cambridge Street.

Did this just go up?
I know certain folks think it's a bit of a nuisance, but I really enjoy how Allston is a giant canvas for street artists... it certainly makes the place a little more vibrant.
Leor -- It must have just gone up because I was on that block a couple of days ago, and it wasn't there. The photos were taken today.
I'm curious which folks think this mural is a nuisance. During the entire 9 hours of painting the wall people from the neighborhood were enamored with it. They thanked us, told us how much they liked it. They offered us water and beer. I do have to say it is a bit disheartening to organize this entire wall with permission from the building owner only to be shut down by the police who on their 3rd appearance for the day decided we needed a permit to occupy the sidewalk. According to the owner of the building the wall will be painted over white because there has been too much negative feedback. Art to one person is a public nuisance to another I suppose. Please let me know what you think of the wall.
Save the X-Men wall!
Negative feedback from whom? Passersby or neighborhood residents? (I'm not from Boston so don't know the area.) I love the mural though. I know, yes, by this point it might seem a little too commercial to be throwing up X-Men graffiti, but I like the delicate black outline and shading of the Sentinel. It looks as if someone drew it with a giant pen.
I just meant street art in general as a nuisance, not this particular piece... sorry for not clarifying that statement...
