Pro Cyclist Magnus Backstedt Interview from Thomas Attila Lewis.
The Pan Mass Challenge ride to fun cancer research at Dana Farber starts tomorrow.... or does it? Former professional cyclist, and current cycling team manager, Magnus Backstedt, arrived in Boston on Wednesday to participate in fundraisers and make his way across the state in order to start the Pan Mass Challenge ride today from West Stockbridge, on the New York border, in order to ride the entire length of the state.-
Backstedt, aka "The Big Swede", has won a stage of the Tour de France, is a repeat Swedish national champion, and won arguably the most intense single day race, the 160.9 mile Paris-Roubaix spring classic in 2004. Retiring this Spring from the American team, Garmin-Slipstream, Backstedt has devoted himself to his team of under-23 riders, sponsoring them with funds raised from his personal brand of coffee: Magnus Maximus Coffee. Team MagnusMaximusCoffee.com has already had many successes including one of their riders winning the Swedish national championship this year.
