Harvard historian Niall Ferguson just came out and said it. Obama is a lucky black man! No, really. That's pretty much what he wrote in the Financial Times: "President Barack Obama reminds me of Felix the Cat. One of the best-loved cartoon characters of the 1920s, Felix was not only black. He was also very, very lucky. And that pretty much sums up the 44th president of the US[.]" Not only that, but Ferguson also thinks that Obama is totally wrong about everything. Do you think he eats lunch a lot with Skip Gates? [via Brainiac]

Ferguson was on Bill Maher two weeks ago. The show was one of Maher's better ones. Ferguson came across very well, imo, which makes the Obama comment surprising. I was developing a bromance. It was the voice.
am i missing something in the conclusion?
"Even Felix the Cat’s luck ran out during the Depression. His creator Pat Sullivan drank himself to death in 1933, baffled that audiences now preferred mice like Mickey and Jerry. President Obama should take note."
so is obama supposed to act like a cartoon mouse--timid? squeaky? animated? should he drink himself to death? or just realize (as i imagine he already does) that his popularity is not guaranteed, and he may have to adjust some actions to remain "lucky"? hrmm.
