Brazil Night

Bostonist's favorite experimental dance party Beat Research welcomes Maga Bo, a producer/DJ from Rio de Janeiro with an abiding love for the dance music of all four habitable continents. Live, he plays a jumble of different source material, including pirate street cassettes, hard-to-find vinyl, and obscure MP3s "with a DJ’s feel for the dance floor and the hip hop mentality of creating by re-contextualizing." Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. Free. More information.

Metal

Obscenity Cult is a record label based in Boston and Philadelphia that specializes in underground metal. It's putting on a showcase tonight in Allston, featuring the local sounds of neologism-core acts HiveSmasher and BoarCorpse, along with out-of-towners Locusta and Artillery Breath. O'Brien's Pub, 3 Harvard Ave., Allston, 9 p.m. $8.

Wine

The Second Glass wine magazine presents its third Summer Wine Soiree, pitting Californian wine against Italian. Admission includes a wine lecture and a five course tasting menu, featuring five glasses of wine. If you don't dig on swine, you should say something in advance. Cafe Luna, 403 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $25. More information.
