Tuesday Happenings

black-star.jpg Hip Hop

We thought for certain that Mos Def and Talib Kweli couldn't stand each other anymore. How else to explain the demise of Black Star, self-consciously well-meaning white people's favorite hip hop duo? They're back together for long enough to play a show at the House of Blues tonight. We're hoping that Buzz Aldrin will show up to run through a few bars. House of Blues, 15 Lansdowne St., 7 p.m. $29.50-$39.50.

Folk?

Former frontman of indie rock band Verbena, AA Bondy has a solo contract these days with Fat Possum, the hard edged Americana label. The music he makes these days straddles the line between blues and Alt-Country. If you like this kind of music, Bondy's a fantastic exponent of it. If you don't, he sounds hopelessly derivative. Great Scott, 1222 Comm. Ave., Allston, 9 p.m. $10/$12.

Comedy

The local "alternative" comics who gather under the moniker Anderson Comedy present a monthly "live talk show," including sketch comedy, standup, and fake news. Let us know if it's any good. O'Brien's Pub, 3 Harvard Ave., Allston, 9 p.m. $8.
