Oh, Those Mouthy Jets

jetsfans.JPG As if Rex Ryan hadn't done enough to fan the "flames" of the Jets/Patriots "rivalry", now we have Jets "safety" Kerry Rhodes unwisely sent in front of a microphone in anticipation of Sunday's game.

Rhodes' plan? "Not just go out there and try to win, try to embarrass them. Try to make them feel bad when they leave here. We don't want to just beat them. We want to send a message to them, 'We're not backing down from you and we expect to win this game, and it's not going to be luck, it's not going to be a mistake.'" Rhodes, whose beloved Jets are 28-38 (2-7 vs. NE) since he joined them, added that his defense "won't play dirty", but "we will hit [Tom Brady] more than six times. I promise you that."

Brady's response? "Talk is cheap." We'll take that a step farther, and suggest that Rhodes call Freddie Mitchell to find out what he's been up to since dissing Rodney Harrison and the Pats before the Eagles Super Bowl. Assuming, of course, that Freddie Mitchell still has a working telephone.

The Jets used to remind us nostalgically of the days when we used to keep thinking we could beat the Yankees. Now we're convinced that they are to the NFL what Draco Malfoy is to Quidditch, in that the only time you don't hear anything out of them is when the game's actually going on.
