Still from Z32 courtesy Harvard Film Archive.
Israeli director Avi Mograbi doesn't pull any punches with Z32, a documentary built around the confession of a young Israeli soldier who participated in a pair of revenge killings against Palestinian police. Mograbi presents the confession with a series of distancing effects, not least of which is his own narration—sung after the style of Brecht and Weill. Think that sounds like a bad idea? Tell Mograbi in person, tonight. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $10.
